FROM THE BAND...
Jan 4, 2010- Thanks to everyone for a great new years party
with 3rd Wave and Whiskey River. Your support is super
appreciated and we wish you all the very best over the coming
year. Things to keep an eye out for in 2010 include... the (loooooong
awaited) release of our full length CD tribute to great Canadian
bands. This should be coming real soon now (yes, really) as we
have been finding the time to fit the recording into our busy
schedules. And
watch for some changes right here in Sarnia with new ownership
of the old Dallas City Limits. The place is getting a much
needed major shake down and huge upgrades over the next few
weeks as it transforms into the new Howard Johnson Motel. Their
"Diamond Room" is anticipated to become the grown-up
entertainment center of Sarnia and the new owners vow to make
this the "Gem of the Golden Mile". Major changes are already
under way and its great to see the old place getting a total new
breath of life put into it. Join us this Saturday night (Jan
9th) as we return to our old stomping grounds for a sneak peak
at the changes under way. Also this month, a new venue added to
our roster as we rock the new Norma Jeans in Tillsonburg. See
you all soon !
June 10/09- Hey well, if
you haven't been out to our shows lately, we've been working
alot of new material into our sets for the last few months and
venturing into a little edgier stuff. Looking forward to
some fun gigs coming up shortly with a show at Sarnia's new
Skinny Lounge, a Canada Day Duc Cruise, Mackinac festival and a
K106 cruise later in the summer. You can check out the line up
for Mackinac on our schedule page, some great local bands on
Friday and top notch tributes on the Saturday night.
Feb 7/09- This New Years
Eve 3rd Wave bid a fond fairwell to Sean Robbins as he decided to move on to new ventures in 2009. Sean and the the
rest of us have certainly had alot of good times together in the
last few years. Good stuff to remember. Thanks Sean !
Norma Jean's was a blast New Years as always with a packed
house. Our thanks to
Justin at Jersey's for having us back down in January to play
for the gang in
Chatham again! Now with a few weeks off we're hitting the
bars this February as a 5 piece and starting to
bring in some new material we've been working on. See ya
all soon.
July 7- as seems to be the usual way...we got
some Good news and some Bad news- bad news is that our expected
week long trip to perform in Calgary (Stampede Week) has gone by
the wayside (for this year anyway) ....Good news is.... that now
frees us up for some home town rockin at the Mackinac Festival
July 11th and 12th. Looking forward to Mackinac this year
and catching all the great tribute acts Saturday night when we
do our full 80's Experience show. Hope to see you all
there !
June 7- many thanks to everyone who
participated in Kaitlynn's fundraiser back in April. It was a
resounding success. 3rd Wave will be doing the Mackinac
Festival again this summer. Stay tuned for details. I'll try to
post some of my pics from Rock n' Roll Heaven and the show at
Foolery's in Windsor (with Destroyer) soon.
Feb 28- Hey folks, thanks so much, the Helix
show was sold out and a huge blast. See some pics from the show
here. We saw both a lot of familiar faces and new faces that
night too and the audience support was awesome. I've
posted a whole bunch of new pics from the last few months on our
Photos page and will be posting more soon.
We've got a number of exciting things coming up real soon
including a video shoot at the Roadhouse Route 66 in March, (see
details) and some "80's Experience" shows in
Toronto and Windsor as well. The Windsor show will be with a
Premium Kiss Tribute band called Destroyer and there will be bus
transportation from Sarnia to Windsor- more
details about that here. The Toronto show is at Rock &
Roll Heaven, if you're in the Sarnia or London area and are
interested in a night outta town, we're considering getting bus
transportation to Rock and Roll Heaven for our 3rd Wave friends.
If you wanna go, send us an email for more details thirdwavebooking@yahoo.ca
.
Also for those of you who remember, last year my (Lynic's) niece
Kaitlynn, had a very successful fundraiser for Watercan raising
money to provide African children with clean drinking water. Kaitlynn's assistance in helping this dire
situation has gained her both local and international
recognition for her efforts. 3rd Wave has gladly agreed to
assist Kaitlynn again this year with collecting donations and
performing a concert at the Courtright Silverdome. We really
appreciate all the generous donations made by you folks last
year and hope she can have your support again. Here's the details
of the event.
Jan 18th- well with the coming of our new year
comes a turn of events with our former guitarist, John returning
to the band. Our sincere thanks goes out to Pete Seegert for all
his help and contributions over the last few months and we all
wish him the best of luck. The last few months have been very
busy but we've recently had the good fortune of Darren and Janet
from "Metcalfe Photography" graciously donating some
awesome professional pictures to us, (featuring Pete on guitar)
so I'll be posting those pics here shortly. Thanks Darren and
Janet ! We're looking forward to this weekend at the new
"Roadhouse Route 66" and hopefully get a chance to get
some more pics of you folks for fan of the month etc... also on
the up and coming is an opportunity to open for Canadian rockers
Helix in London this February which should be a total blast.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us with buying our CD
over the last few months, you're the best !
